Las Posadas

Las Posadas are festivals that are celebrated in Mexico during the nine days before Christmas, from 16th to 24th December. These festivities recall the journey of Mary and Joseph from their departure from Nazareth to Bethlehem where they seek a place to stay to await the birth of Jesus.

Guadalupe

In Puerto Vallarta the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe starts the December 1st and end up the 12th of December. Each day different groups of people got together and walk from their neighbourhoods to the Cathedral. Along this day you can find people selling traditional food in the streets where the people walks. During the evenings you can listen the chanting of the people walking and at night enjoy fireworks. It was on the same day in 1851 that Puerto Vallarta was founded by Don Guadalupe Sanchez. The 12th of December, also marks the anniversary of the founding of Puerto Vallarta.
